Lansing School District Selects Daniel Boggan III as Head Football Coach at Eastern HighSchool

LANSING, Mich. — December 19, 2025 — The Lansing School District is pleased to
announce that Daniel Boggan III has been selected as the new head football coach at Eastern
High School, effective immediately.

“I am deeply honored to return to Eastern High School as head football coach,” said Boggan.
“Eastern holds a special place in my heart, and I’m committed to rebuilding this program with
integrity, energy, and purpose. We will focus on developing strong fundamentals, fostering
teamwork, and ensuring our student-athletes excel academically and personally. I look forward to
engaging with our players, families, and the broader Eastern community as we work together
toward success.”

Boggan returns to Eastern with an exceptional record of coaching leadership, educational
experience, and deep ties to the Lansing community. A proud graduate of Eastern High School,
he comes to the Quakers with a sustained record of achievement in both athletics and school
leadership, including multiple hall of fame honors recognizing his impact as both a player and a
coach.

Prior to his selection at Eastern, Boggan distinguished himself as head football coach at J.W.
Sexton High School, where he became the winningest football coach in school history, compiling
more than a decade of competitive seasons with multiple playoff qualifications. Under his
leadership, Sexton won nine conference championships, produced three undefeated regular
seasons, achieved extended regular-season and conference winning streaks, and qualified for the
state playoffs across 15 seasons of competition.

In addition to his football accomplishments, Boggan has held numerous roles in education and
athletics throughout his 33-year career, including experience as an assistant principal, athletic
director, student support specialist, and track coach. During his tenure, his student-athletes
earned more than 131 Division I and Division II athletic scholarships. His career achievements
have been formally recognized with induction into the Michigan High School Football Coaches
Hall of Fame in 2019, the Eastern High School Hall of Fame as a player in 2021, and the Sexton
High School Hall of Fame for football and track as a coach in 2023.

“We are excited to welcome Daniel Boggan III back to Eastern High School in this leadership
role,” said Eastern High School Principal Marcelle Carruthers. “As an alumnus, educator, and
accomplished coach, Daniel brings a proven track record of developing football programs and
supporting student success. His vision for the future aligns directly with our goals for growth,
competitiveness, and community pride.”

Boggan succeeds former head coach Jordan Morgan, who has departed the program to pursue
professional opportunities. The Lansing School District expresses its appreciation for Morgan’s
service and contributions to Eastern’s student-athletes.
