Bishop Boyea Launches Diocesan-Wide Jubilee Year Initiative

Bishop Earl Boyea has launched a celebratory “Jubilee Year” initiative, inviting all Catholics—both lay and ordained—throughout the Diocese of Lansing to unite through Eucharistic devotion. The campaign anchored in collective prayer, intercession, and evangelization, underlining the Eucharist as “the source and summit” of Catholic faith, as emphasized by Craig Pohl, Director of the Diocese’s Office of New Evangelization.

This effort began on the Feast of Pentecost, June 8, and continued through Corpus Christi, June 21, featuring a 40‑hour intercessory campaign across every parish deanery. Itculminates Saturday with a diocesan Mass at 10 a.m. at Jackson Field (home of the Lansing Lugnuts), followed by a Eucharistic Procession through the streets of Lansing to the State Capitol steps.

Pilgrims participating in the procession had the opportunity to receive a plenary indulgence as part of the Jubilee Year festivities. Bishop Boyea emphasized this special time of grace and unity, inviting everyone to witness Christ’s presence in a public celebration of faith.

The Diocese anticipates a powerful display of communal devotion and hopes this initiative inspires deeper Eucharistic engagement and evangelization efforts across local communities.
