Over 7,400 participants gathered on Michigan State University’s campus for the sixth annual Izzo Run/Walk/Roll, marking a record-breaking turnout for the event. Organized by The Izzo Legacy Foundation, the event featured a variety of races, including a 5K Run/Walk, 5K Roll, 1/2 K Walk/Roll, Kids’ Sprint, Kids’ 1/2 Mile, and a Virtual 5K, emphasizing inclusivity and community engagement.
“Tom and I have certainly been blessed to be a part of this community and we feel a genuine obligation to give back to the MSU and Mid-Michigan communities that have become such a large part of our lives,” said Lupe Izzo, co-founder of The Izzo Legacy Foundation.
The event commenced at the Breslin Center and concluded at Spartan Stadium, with participants of all ages and abilities, including children and individuals using hand cycles and wheelchairs, taking part. The festive atmosphere was highlighted by the presence of MSU’s mascot, Sparty, and the enthusiastic support of the local community.
Proceeds from the event support The Izzo Legacy Foundation’s endowment, ensuring ongoing contributions to local charities. Since its inception in 2019, the foundation has raised over $750,000 to support various causes in the greater Lansing area.
