LANSING, MI — Lansing native and former professional basketball player Desmond Ferguson has announced the return of “517 Day,” set to take place on May 17 at the Moneyball Sportswear Headquarters. The community celebration will honor the legacy of Malcolm X and highlight his historical ties to Lansing, while also showcasing the spirit, pride, and unity of the Capital City.
Ferguson, founder and CEO of Moneyball Sportswear, created the annual 517 Day as a way to bring the Lansing community together and recognize its rich history, culture, and local talent.
This year’s event will include storewide sales, bounce houses for kids, and a variety of local food trucks, making it a family-friendly day of celebration and connection. More importantly, the day will serve as a tribute to Malcolm X, who spent part of his youth in Lansing and whose legacy continues to inspire generations.
