IndyCar fans are in for a high-octane weekend as the 2025 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix returns to the streets of downtown Detroit, bringing with it one of the sport’s most electrifying talents — Pato O’Ward.
The Arrow McLaren driver is confirmed to race in this year’s edition, set for May 30 – June 1, as the series takes on the tight, technical street circuit surrounding the Renaissance Center. Known for his aggressive style and fearless overtaking, O’Ward is expected to be a major contender in the Motor City.

“I love street courses, and Detroit is one of the most challenging and rewarding tracks we race on,” O’Ward said in a press release. “The energy from the fans and the city always makes this one special. We’re coming in hungry for a win.”
O’Ward, a fan favorite from Monterrey, Mexico, currently sits high in the IndyCar championship standings and has already made waves this season with multiple podium finishes. With McLaren’s recent upgrades, the team is aiming for a dominant showing in Detroit.

The Grand Prix will feature a packed weekend of events, including support races from the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, celebrity appearances, and fan activities throughout Hart Plaza and the riverfront.
Tickets are available now, with thousands of fans expected to attend what promises to be one of the most thrilling races of the season.
