In the sweltering heart of Phoenix, where the desert sky blurs from sunrise to sunset, the NoonDay Devils are making noise across Arizona’s desert roads. Their latest track, “Reina,” dropped in July and kicks off a year-long series of monthly releases.
The band is powered by Lansing, Michigan native Joey Jakovac, whose restless, relentless drumming brings a raw Midwestern edge to the desert rock duo. Paired with Freddy Crounse on guitar and vocals, the two-piece outfit transforms emotion into riff-driven powerhouses built for the stage.
Their debut album, Bitters—produced by Phoenix music icon Bruce Connole—was hailed as a sonic manifesto. Music Connection Magazine gave it a 9/10 for its unapologetic grit and muscular sound, drawing comparisons to Rocket From The Crypt, Queens of the Stone Age, and The Stooges.
