Mayor Schor and Lansing Economic Development Corporation Launch Second Emerging Developer Academy

Residents & Property Owners Encouraged to Apply

Lansing, MI — Mayor Andy Schor, in partnership with the Lansing Economic Development Corporation (Lansing EDC), is proud to announce the return of The Lansing Supporting Empowered Emerging Developers (SEED) Academy as part of the Lansing Equitable Economic Development (LEED) Initiative.

Applications are now open and will close on January 9, 2026. To apply, visit: https://lansingedc.com/seed-academy.

The Lansing SEED Academy is the first program of its kind in Lansing, designed to build capacity for emerging real estate developers, enhance their ability to undertake projects, and increase their competitiveness as Lansing’s real estate market continues to grow.

“The SEED Academy program is a fantastic opportunity for those emerging developers who want to take their business to the next level and help in Lansing’s growth,” Mayor Andy Schor stated. “I’m proud that my administration and the Lansing EDC can support this program, provide training and access to resources for these participants, and work together to keep moving our city forward.”

Through the Lansing SEED Academy, participants receive comprehensive training on essential development topics — including project feasibility assessment, financing, pro forma development, loan packaging, and navigating the full development process from concept to completion. Graduates emerge equipped with the skills, resources, and connections needed to successfully launch real estate projects and contribute to Lansing’s long-term economic growth.

“As Chair of the Lansing EDC Board, I’m incredibly proud of the work we are doing to support emerging developers in Lansing. We’ve already seen the tremendous impact of our first SEED Academy cohort, and it’s inspiring to watch graduates move forward with real projects that are shaping Lansing’s future. Their progress proves that when we invest in emerging developers, we unlock new possibilities for our neighborhoods and our economy,” said Chair of the Lansing EDC Board, Shelley Davis Boyd.

Funding for the program is provided through federal ARPA allocations secured by Mayor Schor.

Applications are now open and will close on January 9, 2026. To apply, visit: https://lansingedc.com/seed-academy.
