Lansing News Wire had a chance to catch up with Logan Lee, Waverly high’s varsity wrestler in the 190 pound boys varsity division representing Waverly’s wrestling elite. Here is what he had to say:
Q: Why did you get into wrestling?
A: My father was a wrestling coach and I would always tag along and eventually I fell in love with the sport.
Q: What do you love most about wrestling?
A: The lessons it teaches, it’s taught me things like resilience and toughness.
Q: Who is your favorite wrestler?
A: Dave Schultz (RIP), because not only of his skill on the mat but also who he was as a person.
Q: Who is the greatest wrestler of all time?
A: Dan Gable. No question.
Q: What is your best memory on the wrestling team?
A: It’s probably pinning a wrestler who was above my weight class (I bumped up) who I had no right beating to win my schools second District Title.
Q: Who has helped you become the wrestler you are today?
A: My Dad.
Q: Do you recommend wrestling to others, why or why not?
A: I do, it teaches you how to do the little things right and it gives you a sense of what a hard work ethic is.
Q: What do you like most about being on the wrestling team?
A: The camaraderie it builds between you and your peers.
Q: How do you prepare for your next match?
A: I listen to jazz/old music and think about the book I’m reading at the time.
Q: What is your goal for this wrestling season?
A: To place at State Finals.
Q: What is one of your goals for after high school?
A: Too become a Fire fighter/EMT.
Q: What is your favorite classroom subject?
A: Jazz band

A: Michigan (Go Blue)

A: Brownies
