Lansing News Wire Q&A: Isabel Antaya, East Lansing High’s Sophomore Wrestler

Lansing New Wire had a chance to catch up with Isabel Antaya, East Lansing High’s female wrestler in the 130 pound division. Here is what she had to say about her wrestling experience in Meet the Lady Trojans Q&A:

Q: Why did you get into wrestling?

A: My friend asked me to join and I thought it would be a fun experience. 

Q: What do you love most about wrestling?

A: Feeling accomplished after winning.

Q: Who is your favorite wrestler?

A: don’t have one but I love watching all of my teammates wrestle. 

Q: What is your best memory on the wrestling team?

A: Winning the first time I ever wrestled a guy and going 4-0 and my first JV tournament.

Q: Who has helped you become the wrestler you are today?

A: All of my coaches, my parents, teammates, and friends 

Q: Do you recommend wrestling to others, why or why not?

A: Yes, because it is such a great experience to have as a high schooler and it gives you so much confidence in life.

Q: What do you like most about being on the wrestling team?

A: Building relationships with my teammates. 

Q: How do you prepare for your next match?

A: I usually just warm up/get loose and visualize what I’m going to do in my next match.

Q: What is your goal for this wrestling season?

A: Have a winning record. 

Q: What is one of your goals for after high school?

A: Go to college and graduate. 

Q: What is your favorite classroom subject?

A: Science (Biology specifically) 

Q: What is your dream school/university?

A: Not set on one yet but Michigan would be cool.

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: Orange Chicken

Q: What is your favorite song/music artist?

A: SZA

Q: What actor would play you in a Hollywood movie?

A: no clue
