Community leaders, advocates, and residents gathered for the annual Cesar Chavez Legacy Lunch, a celebration of the civil rights icon’s enduring impact. The event featured Arturo Rodriguez, former president of the United Farm Workers.
Rodriguez delivered an inspiring address honoring Chavez’s lifelong commitment to justice, labor rights, and the empowerment of working families.
Lansing Mayor Andy Schor praised the event, saying, “I had an incredible time at Wednesday’s Legacy of Cesar Chavez event! Thank you to Arturo Rodriguez, former UFW president and leader in the movement, for the inspiring keynote and tribute to Cesar’s legacy.”
Schor also expressed gratitude to the organizers on Facebook, “thank you to my team, committee, volunteers, sponsors, and community for bringing this event together. The lunch serves as a powerful reminder of Chavez’s vision and the ongoing efforts to advance equity and dignity for all workers.”
